Story and Background

This game Guilty Gear takes place three weeks after the events of Guilty Gear Xrd, released in 2015. This is the final chapter of Sol Badguy’s story, trying to get revenge from That Man. This game is set in the United States of America and features the final confrontation between the two characters mentioned above. 

In this context, Asuka R. Kreutz, better known as That Man, turns himself into US President. World’s leaders fear an attack from the three servants of That Man. Due to this, they hire knights and warriors from all countries worldwide.

Happy Chaos is a mysterious character trying to steal the Tome of Origin from Asuka. Happy releases Asuka, who is in a holding cell, but Asuka takes the control of the White House and imprisons Happy. The latter manages to escape, steal the Tome and use it to fuse with I-No, one of the servants of That-Man. I-No gains incredible powers, but she’s defeated by Sol.

Gameplay and Mechanics

Guilty Gear Strives was thought to be a “complete new reconstruction of the franchise.” It still maintains the main cores of the saga but revamps most mechanics and eliminates the ‘Install Kill,’ the series’ signature mechanic.

It introduces a feature called “Wall Break,” which allows stage transitions when a combo is initiated in the corner of the arena.
