What Is Hunt Showdown?

Hunt Showdown is a first-person horror shooter video game launched in 2019. It’s the spiritual successor of Darksiders, a saga developed by Vigil Games, the former studio of these game developers.

Hunt Showdown recovers the cooperative multiplayer game, creating a map alive, where you need to use experience and skills to hunt monsters. 

In Hunt Showdown, you can play alone or in teams to search for clues to help you track the targets. You also compete with other bounty hunters who are after the same reward. Banish your target, collect the bounty, and escape as soon as possible. Every other hunter on the map will be chasing your prize!

A No Mercy Game

Hunt Showdown sets in 1895. You take the role of a bounty hunter tasked to eliminate the savage, nightmarish creatures that have infested the Lousiana Bayou.

In Hunt Showdown, you must show no mercy to any hunter left. You fight through a ruthless world with brutal weapons, leveling up to unlock gear, collect experience, and gold for your Bloodline.

Gameplay and Mechanics

Hunt Showdown includes two gameplay modes. In both, you need to hunt and win a prize, but from a different point of view. 

Bounty Hunt Mode

In this mode, you’re a hunt trying to find and kill one or two of the four bosses in the three maps available. These nightmarish monsters are:

• the Butcher;
• the Spider;
• the Assassin;
• the Scrapbeak.

Each map is a middle-size open world full of PvE elements that are difficult for the enterprise. Some enemies you can find out in the open are Hives, Grunts, and Armoreds. 

The mechanic is very simple. You can work on your own or with another hunter(s) to find clues about the location of the monster. 

Period-inspired Powerful Weapons to Clean Louisiana Swamps

You can use a wide range of weapons to kill the monsters, from shotguns to crossbows. Keep in mind that ammo is scarce in the game, so you must manage your shots wisely. You can also use tools, such as decoys and traps, to hunt monsters and head to the next match!

Collect Your Reward and Prepare to Escape

After you complete the hunt, you can claim your high reward. Anyway, it’s not so easy. Upon completing this, you need to survive until you reach one of the extraction points that appear randomly on the map. 

Getting a bounty reveals the location of nearby players, but also yours. This way, other players can kill you and steal your bounty, and vice versa. It’s is a key component of the gameplay. Last but not least, each match supports up to 12 players.

Battle Royale Mode

This is a Quickplay mode that lasts 15 minutes. Your task in this mode is to find an energy wellspring in a vast map and repel enemies’ attacks.

Dark Sight

This tool allows you to track monstrous targets in the middle of the vast map by seeing blue lights that indicate the location of a clue. You’ll be able to see into the veil between worlds, making that which cannot be seen by mortal eyes visible while you’re tracking monsters.

The larger and brighter the light, the closer players are to the specific clue. The ghostly light will guide you through this infested swamp of the southern United States. 

Dark Sight also marks players carrying a bounty, making them vulnerable to ambush while trying to escape. If you’re part of a group of rugged bounty hunters bound to free the State of their ghastly presence, and you already have the reward in your hands, be careful and distrust your surroundings. 

Progress

You’ll be able to improve your rank of Hunters via your Bloodline. Though your character may die, their experience will be transferred to their Bloodline. Next, you can apply it to other Hunters and head for your next target. 

If you make it escape from the map alive, you can use the money and experience gained to kit out new Hunters. If you die, you lose everything you collect in the match but your experience.
