Story and Background

For centuries, the Exiled Lands we’re ruled by the Giantkings. Humans once came to the Giantkings as refugees, seeking a new place to live. Giantkings gave them permission to settle in the Frozen Wastelands of the North. Humans built a city within the region and lived there peacefully. They practiced weird sciences and worshipped demon gods.

For a thousand years, humans and Giantkings lived in peace, trading with each other. Eventually, due to human greed, war broke out. The Giantkings created a bracelet to bend the will of human prisoners of war. They used them to fight for themselves. 

Near the end of the war, humans created a scientific weapon able to smash through troops and encase survivors in stone. As a last resort, Giantkings summoned a sandstorm, which destroyed everything in its path. The Exiled Lands are now a desert-like waste.

You begin as an outcast convicted for various crimes, sentenced to death, and crucified under the scorching sun. Rescued by Conan the Barbarian, your survival story starts.

Gameplay and Mechanics

The moment Conan frees you from inevitable death, you’re on your own. In place of a standard tutorial, you’ll find a Journal System. It’ll help you get started to cover your basic needs. 

To survive, you need to eat and drink water, so you’ll hunt animals for food. You’ll also gather resources to craft basic tools and weapons. Your next step is to find signs of civilization. Thanks to Journal System, you will get a sense of direction early, as well as goals to reach.

Being well-fed and hydrated is not your only concern. You must weather scouring sandstorms as well as keep track of your mental health.

Crafting System

Crafting is essential and will consume most of your time early. Thanks to large deposits of stone, wood, and plant fiber, creating basic tools is very easy. However, after unlocking more crafting tiers, it becomes more complex. This way, a sense of progression is maintained throughout the entire playthrough.

On PvP servers, you also need to look out for other players trying to take over your land. Of course, it works both ways –  you might attack another player’s settlement and make it your own. You can even create or join a clan. Then share the spoils after.

Combat

The combat system is engaging and rewarding due to a variety of weapons at your disposal, including swords, clubs, axes, short spears, etc. They can be wielded in one hand and combined with a shield.

Instead of a shield, you can choose a side weapon to maximize your damage. However, it will leave you vulnerable to attacks. 

Two-handed weapons can keep enemies at distance or pierce through their armors. If you prefer to fight from a distance, choose a bow or crossbow to ignite fires and cause explosions with different arrow types. Choosing the right weapon is not trivial as certain weapons perform much better against others. Also, pick accordingly to a situation. For example, reflect archer’s arrows using a shield. Pike is better suited against a crocodile than a dagger.

Battles are not only tactical but very brutal and bloody. Beheading opponents and cutting their limbs off is something you’ll do daily.

It’s not unusual to die often. Prepare yourself, and don’t be afraid of the challenge.
